More terminology

This is a little late. I was busy on Easter and missed this article in the New York Times. But luckily this letter to the editor brought it to my attention.

The article and the letter are good reads and not too long. I've always thought that anti-semitism was nothing more than racism against Jews. But maybe it has a broader defintion. Presumably one could have no racial bias against Jews but disagree with the political stance of Israel as a nation.

Also, I don't understand this statement from the letter: "To say that Jews alone of all the peoples on the planet don't have a right to self-determination in a part of their historic homeland is clearly anti-Semitic."

What rights do come with a "historic homeland?"
