News From Mississippi

From Pascagoula, in fact--it's a little dump of an industrial town in which I once resided. With a truly, truly awful newspaper, best used for wrapping fish. Like dem tasty flounder what you get out the sound.

Anyway, the Southern Baptists have decided that the rest of the world's Baptists aren't Southern enough. Or something.

My favorite thing about this article: The reporter interviews one Rev. Dr. Rex Yancey. That's quite a handle.

The move passed overwhelmingly by a show of hands at the group's meeting in Indianapolis. The pullout was proposed by the denomination's executive committee on the basis of a negative report which complained that some in the alliance had questioned inerrancy of the Bible, allowed women to serve as ministers and adopted an "anti-American" tone.

Anti-American? Baptists around the world are not allowed to criticize the US? Show me something in the Bible that Jesus said supporting that position. Please.
