ACC gets Punked

Don't know about you guys, but for me the Average Joe: Adams Returns finale was 10 times more exciting than the Men's NCAA Basketball Championship. Thank God for my girlfriend's roommate or I would have wasted the entire night on that pitiful disaster on CBS. In case you missed it, UConn completely dominated GA Tech leading at one point by 25 in the second half. No way The Huskies should have been on the same side of the bracket as Duke. That was the real national championship.

Of course the worst part of the night was the tournament montage that was set to - get this - some inspirational Luther Vandross tune. It kept going on and on (much like the game itself) to the point that I almost threw Camille's poor remote. Fortunately I was able to contain myself.

Next year's predictions -

1. Watch for too many high schoolers to try to make to the NBA. The miscalculation lies in the fact that they forget about the talented Europeans (and now Asians as well). Half of them will end up taking the place of those Europeans - in European leagues.

2. College basketball will again be dominated by the ACC and the Big East. The SEC got blown away this year, next year won't be much different.

3. Watch for the Dark Horse. The Golden Eagles of Southern Miss led by none other than Larry Eustachy will compete in the CUSA. They finally have a top recruit coming from MS, Henry Salter, and they'll play ball. I'm not saying they'll make the tournament - but Eustachy will turn the program around. If he can stay on the wagon. Good luck, Larry, we're pullin' for you.
