It's a Damn Shame

When remarks from the President seem like they could be part of a Marx Brothers movie script.

I believe it was in Monkey Business--a mob boss looking for protection tries to hire Chico and Harpo as wiseguys. When the boss asks Chico if they are tough, he replies with, among other things, "If you pay us plenty, we plenty tough."

Well, the President's speech may be heavily influenced by those Depression-era comedies. And why not? He seems to enjoy the same sort of jobs-creation ability as, oh, Herbert Hoover.

In other humor-related news, the President's remarks also bring to mind (what else?) a Simpsons episode. When attempting to find the perfect village idiot, the casting agent rejects an applicant, explaining that "We're looking for more of a 'duh-duh' idiot." Well, Georgie should've tried out. If you read his remarks to the press, you'll see that he basically says that, if he had known when, where, who, how many, departure locations, flight numbers, the hijackers' mothers' maiden names, and their horoscopes for that day, well, maybe, just maybe we could've done something then. But we can't be sure.

Asshole.
